Management and Business culture: tell me what you read and I tell you what kind of manager you are!
Christmas gifts. I planned to make some gift to some colleagues. As we are ultra-connected, I decided to have a look to the best sellers in « business and management’ section of Amazon. Here are the results on december 21st. I know about culture differences between UK/USA and France. This is a curious and really funny discovery.
Here is the top 5 by Amazon sites:
Amazon.com
- Jim Cramer’s Stay Mad for Life: Get Rich, Stay Rich (Make Your Kids Even Richer)
- The age of turbulence
- International Harvester, McCormick, Navistar: Milestones in the Company that Helped Build America
- The 4-Hour Workweek: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich by Timothy Ferriss
- The Black Swan: The Impact of the Highly Improbable by Nassim Nicholas Taleb
Amazon.co.uk
- The Secret
- Gordon Ramsay’s playing with fire
- The age of turbulence
- Anyone can do it
- Who moove my cheese?
Amazon.fr
- 1- Petit traité de manipulation à l’usage des honnêtes gens – « Little treaty on manipulating people for honnest people »
- 2- Apprendre à apprendre – « Learn to learn »

As a French, this chart make me laugh a lot regarding the time we loose everyday on focusing on ‘politics issues’ in day-today work-life. While French managers read on how manipulating the others, English and American Managers read books related to the company performance or getting richer!
