Management and Business culture: tell me what you read and I tell you what kind of manager you are!

Christmas gifts. I planned to make some gift to some colleagues. As we are ultra-connected, I decided to have a look to the best sellers in « business and management’ section of Amazon. Here are the results on december 21st. I know about culture differences between UK/USA and France. This is a curious and really funny discovery.
Here is the top 5 by Amazon sites:

  1. Jim Cramer’s Stay Mad for Life: Get Rich, Stay Rich (Make Your Kids Even Richer)
  2. The age of turbulence
  3. International Harvester, McCormick, Navistar: Milestones in the Company that Helped Build America
  4. The 4-Hour Workweek: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich by Timothy Ferriss
  5. The Black Swan: The Impact of the Highly Improbable by Nassim Nicholas Taleb

  1. The Secret
  2. Gordon Ramsay’s playing with fire
  3. The age of turbulence
  4. Anyone can do it
  5. Who moove my cheese?

  • 1- Petit traité de manipulation à l’usage des honnêtes gens – « Little treaty on manipulating people for honnest people »
  • 2- Apprendre à apprendre – « Learn to learn »
  • 3- Objectif zéro sale con – « No asshole rule »
  • 8- Les Lettres de non motivation – « No-motivation letters »

As a French, this chart make me laugh a lot regarding the time we loose everyday on focusing on ‘politics issues’ in day-today work-life. While French managers read on how manipulating the others, English and American Managers read books related to the company performance or getting richer!
